Mount Cook National Park, January 2020
An accessible, non-technical and very scenic day hike. Around 1,400m of climbing, and around 6-7kms each way. There are many scenic locations to break or use as a turnaround point if you don’t want to go all the way to Mt Wakefield. There isn’t water up here – so take what you need with you.
Begin by parking on the north side of the Hooker River just across the Tasman Valley Road bridge (see below). Find an obvious track in the bush next to a small parking area here to begin.

The navigation is simple – basically follow the ridge and obvious track all the way! Below are a small collection of photos just to highlight the nature of the terrain, and amazing views. A highly recommended day hike.
